About

Welcome!
I'm Hannah Stewart, and I am a fifth-year PhD student at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s School of Public Health.

My research primarily focuses on the lived experiences of mental health concerns and substance use issues.

Prior to embarking on my doctoral journey, I completed an MPH in Global Health Leadership from the University of Southern California. As a person with lived experience, I am committed to using my research to center the rights and experiences of my larger community and am particularly invested in research topics and methodologies aligned with those values, including lived experience engagement, participatory action/research, and survivor-led research. I owe a debt of gratitude to the consumer/survivor/ex-patient movements that preceded me, and I strive to do work that honors their legacy.

Outside of mental health research and advocacy, I am a doting dog mom, espresso enthusiast, and novice Spanish-language learner.
