Teaching and Mentoring

I am always really delighted to work alongside future researchers and advocates. I believe in using intentional pedagogical approaches to advance critical thinking and skill mastery.

Currently, I serve as a TA across three different Masters and doctoral courses at UTHealth:

  • PHWM 1110 - Health Promotion & Behavioral Sciences in Public Health
  • PHWM 5015 - Introduction to Qualitative Research
  • PHD 1118 - Qualitative Research Methods
This summer, I'll be assisting faculty at the university with designing the curriculum for a new course on public health communication.

I enjoy taking my teaching skills to new campuses and have guest lectured at:
  • Rice University
  • University of Mississippi
  • Occidental College
I also mentor budding researchers through Polygence, where I participate in their pro bono programs. At Polygence, I get the opportunity to work with motivated high school students that are looking to create and implement research projects.

Twice per year, I facilitate a group of students participating in the MENA-USA Empowering Resilient Girls Exchange. We spend eight weeks improving mental health literacy, building resiliency skills, and engaging in cross-cultural learning.
