2023
  • Awardee, Annual Meeting Poster Competition at ISPS-US
The US chapter of the International Society of Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (ISPS) judges scientific posters on their academic merit, science communication skills, and potential to positively impact people with experiences of psychosis and other altered or extreme states. 
  • Awardee, L. Kay Bartholomew Eldredge Family Endowed Scholarship in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science
Given in memory of Dr. Bartholomew Eldredge, this endowment at UTHealth is awarded to students within the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science who have excelled academically during their time at the institution and exemplify a commitment the the values that are a cornerstone of our profession. 
  • Awardee, Texas Substance Use Symposium (TxSUS) Scholarship
Award provides conference registration and lodging funds to be used to attend the TxSUS annual meeting. The award prioritizes underserved scholars and activists, including those with lived experience. 
  • Awardee, APHA Student Assembly Scholarship
Award recognizes outstanding student leaders within the American Public Health Association and provides funding to offset the cost of professional development  activities.

2022
  • Awardee, Lu-Yu Hwang, MD and R. Palmer Beasley, MD Scholarship in Global Health
Award is based on academic merit to students with an interest in global health. The scholarship honors the late Dr. Beasley and his commitment to the health of people everywhere. 

  • Awardee, Thomas F. Burks Scholarship for Academic Merit
Dr. Thomas F. Burks was an outstanding researcher, an inspirational teacher, an academic leader and a friend to faculty and students. Establishing a student scholarship in his name is a lasting tribute to his memory and to what he valued in life. The scholarship supports students based on academic merit. Each school within UTHealth nominates two students to be considered by the IFC annually. The scholarship is to be awarded to a student who is matriculated and has established an academic record at one of the schools of UTHealth Houston.

  • Training Fellow, LEAD Global Training Program 
The LEAD Global Training Program recruits and trains predoctoral students and postdoctoral trainees from diverse backgrounds across the United States, including groups underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research, interested in global mental health disparities research. LEAD is funded by the National Institutes of Health’s Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Training (MHRT) Program.

  • Emerging Scholar, Healthy Neighborhood Research Consortium Fellowship
This one-year research fellowship provides an opportunity for community scholars, early career researchers, and doctoral students dedicated to Participatory Action Research (“PAR”) to receive training and mentoring on PAR methods from members of the Healthy Neighborhoods Research Consortium (the “HNRC”), a partnership of neighborhood residents, grassroots community organizations, academic and non-profit institutions, and state government agencies. The fellowship is made possible by funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

2020

Awardee, Outstanding New Student Scholarship

The Outstanding New Student Scholarship is a competitive program open to incoming resident and non-resident students for enrollment in the following fall semester. The scholarship is designed to attract top talent to the university and is awarded based on academic merit.

Awardee, Early-Career Professional Abstract Award in International Health

This award, provided by the International Health Section of the American Public Health Association, is given to the top-scoring abstract submitted to the section's annual conference program by an early-career professional. The award covers conference registration fees and expenses.
